Searching for Antimatter and Cosmic Ray Studies Using BESS,

the Japanese Balloon Borne Experiment with a Superconducting Solenoidal Spectrometer

The main objectives of the BESS program are: 1) A search for anti-helium nuclei in cosmic rays; 2) Measurements of the antiproton spectra between 0.17 and 3 GeV; 3) Measurements of the spectra of antiprotons, protons, helium nuclei and their isotopes during the solar minimum. The BESS payload has had six successful flights from Lynn Lake, Canada.
